LULU & WHISKEY (Myriam Gallo born 1989 and Yvonne Lanz born 1984) question common artistic self-designations and dissolve the attribution and reduction to gender and origin of the artist. It is transported and interpreted through the name. The name is a quote from pop culture and stands for a critical, playful approach - an associative flirtation - to the mutual interaction of humans and other living beings, their contradictory relationships, hegemonies, and dependencies. As young women, they consciously break with the ivory tower of patriarchal structures and outdated thought patterns in art and pop culture. They question the supposed supremacy of humans over their environment. In 2020, the artist duo was represented at the Cantonale Berne Jura at Kunsthaus Pasquart and Kunsthaus Langenthal, among other venues; a solo exhibition at Lokal-Int, Biel/Bienne followed in 2021, as well as studio residencies at Villa Villekulla and Sasso.
