Peter Wüthrich started painting during his apprenticeship as a graphic artist. In 1991 he created his first installations with books from the Brockenhaus, and since the early 1990’s, Peter Wüthrich’s art has focused exclusively on the medium of the book.1990–98 several Grants and Awards like the Wilhelm Lehmbruck Grant by the Lehmbruck Museum in Duisburg and the County of Nordrhein-Westfalen, the Schloss Balmoral Grant in Koblenz or the Louise Aeschlimann-Corti Grant from Bern. Since 1992 he realized various public artworks like in 2006 for the new Palais de la Justice in Strasbourg, 2007 for the new Biblioteca Vasconcelos in Mexico City, or 2012 for the new Building of the German Government (Deutscher Bundestag) in Berlin. In 2001 the Centro Galego de Arte Contemporánea in Santiago de Compostela dedicated to him his largest exhibition and publication to date. His works are regularly shown in various solo and group exhibitions in Switzerland, Europe and the USA, among others, and are part of public collections such as the art collection of the German Bundestag in Berlin, the graphic collection of the National Library in Bern, the art collection of the Canton of Bern and the art museums in Thun and Solothurn. Peter Wüthrich lives and works in Interlaken and Oberdiessbach.
